MUSA Families - Soccer is back

MUSA Families: Soccer is back!

Our survey of soccer families showed a very high interest in having some opportunities for our youth to practice their skills and do some in-club match play. As such, MUSA has decided to offer soccer this summer for ages 7-13. We’ll split the players into two co-ed age groups for skill-development practices on Wednesdays and Thursdays and have all ages come together on Sundays for small-sided, in-club matches. (If an opportunity arises for a match against another town, we will survey families for interest.)

·       Dates

o   Starts weekly on Wednesday, July 15, for ages 7-9

o   Starts weekly on Thursday, July 16, for ages 10-13

o   First Sunday in-club matches are July 19

o   Ends Sunday with in-club matches on August 16

·       Times

o   All times are from 6-7:30 p.m. (Matches on Sundays may run a bit longer.)

·       Location

o   Everything will be at Holy Redeemer fields at 501 S. Whitney

·       Registration

o   $25

o   Fees help offset insurance, facility cost, field maintenance, equipment, etc.

o   All coaches and assistants will be volunteering their time

MHS Girls and Boys soccer teams have started voluntary practices, so MUSA will not have soccer for those age groups this year.

COVID19 Guidelines

·       Every player must have their parent digitally sign the COVID19 waiver during the registration process. No one will be allowed to practice without this signed waiver.

·       Players will be screened before the start of each practice, including using thermometers to check temperatures. Any identified health risks will mean the player cannot participate.

·       Coaches and assistants helping with practices and matches will wear face masks.

·       Families watching matches need to be socially distanced on the sideline.

·       Players will be socially distanced as much as possible.

·       There will not be any onsite bathrooms available.

·       Every player must have their own water bottle, shin guards, and cleats to participate. Each player should also bring their own soccer ball. Players should use only their own ball.

o   MUSA will have some extra balls that will be disinfected after each practice/match. MUSA will also provide mesh pinnies that will be washed after each practice/match.

Help Needed

We need more volunteers/assistant coaches at each age level to help keep it organized. This is the perfect year to see what it’s like being a soccer coach! MUSA will help with instructions; all you need is a willingness to help kids learn, stay safe, and have fun!

Please register by Sunday, July 12 with this registration link.
